CleanStart is a social franchise built on recurring property services contracts with businesses, housing providers, and the public sector. Own a business with a social mission. Territories available across Canada.
Demand is growing, skilled providers are rare, and buyers increasingly want mission-led vendors. That is the opportunity.
Housing providers, health authorities, and municipalities need more help with complex environments every year. This work cannot be postponed and cannot be automated.
B2B and B2G contracts repeat. Predictable work and steady cash flow, not one-off jobs.
We specialize in the work most companies avoid. Less competition, more loyalty.
Public and institutional buyers increasingly choose mission-led vendors. A certified social enterprise has a real edge in winning this work.
Start simple. Grow into the work with the highest value. Each level builds on the last.
Cleaning, waste removal, and home-readiness services for people returning home from hospital. Proven with long-term health-authority contracts, built to replicate in new regions, and deliverable before you invest in trucks or major equipment.
The services that complete the offering: dedicated fleet, specialized tools, structured training, and provincially licensed pest control. Owning your own vehicles is a real edge, especially in hoarded units.
CleanStart began in March 2010 in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. We did not start with a grand plan. We started with a simple belief: that the hardest jobs deserve the most care, both for the people we serve and for the people doing the work.
That is why we are franchising. Not just to grow a brand, but to put a proven, contract-backed business model into the hands of mission-aligned owners: nonprofits, social entrepreneurs, and impact-focused individuals who want to build something that matters in their own community.
If that sounds like you, I would love to talk.
CleanStart Franchising is a partnership between two mission-driven organizations: CleanStart, the award-winning social enterprise that built this business on Vancouver's hardest jobs, and Just Like Family Home Care, one of Canada's proven franchise networks with more than 50 locations.
Carla Langhorst is pioneering social franchising in Canada. As CEO of Just Like Family, a certified social enterprise, she has shown that a franchise network can scale nationally while putting people ahead of profits. As Co-CEO of CleanStart Franchising, she brings that hard-won franchising playbook, the systems, the training, and the partner support, to a new generation of mission-aligned owners.
For you as a franchise partner, the combination matters: a purpose that opens doors with clients and communities, and a franchising engine that knows exactly how to help an owner succeed.
The people who will train, coach, and support you.
The purpose. Built CleanStart from one pickup truck into an award-winning social enterprise, and personally coaches every new franchise partner.
The franchise expertise. Leads a national franchise network of more than 50 locations, and brings that playbook to CleanStart partners.
The operations. Leads the flagship Vancouver business day to day and brings field-proven systems and oversight to the network.
Together: purpose, systems, and franchise expertise behind every territory.

No. We provide complete onboarding and structured training, and the founder personally coaches new partners through the start-up phase, with CEO-level support in franchise and operational expertise behind him. What matters most is mission alignment, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
Back-office support, tech-stack integration, onboarding across culture, operations, setup, HR, and sales, plus marketing support from SEO to RFP development. After launch you get recurring coaching, a six-month checklist, and first-year back-office assistance.
Territories are available across Canada, province by province. Your territory is defined together during the franchise process based on your region, market, and goals.
That depends on your market, your contracts, and the work you put in. What we can show you is how the model builds recurring revenue, as part of the disclosure process.
Because everyone deserves the chance to work and become financially independent. CleanStart is a for-profit franchise that acts charitable: we use profit and social impact to change lives, and each makes the other stronger.
"Great company, love the social enterprise part of what they do. Feels good to know that your money is actually going towards helping people. They hauled away about a truck load of junk for more than a fair price. Highly recommend CleanStart."
